ID:NC QEMM-386 5.0 with NEC Powermate SX
Quarterdeck Technical Note #102
by Stan Young
last revision: 12 February 1992
When installed on a NEC Powermate SX, QEMM-386 version 5.0 will cause
continual reboots. QEMM version 6.0 and later detect this machine and avoid
the problem.
To solve this problem, use the NOSH parameter to QEMM.
In its simplest form you could load QEMM as follows in your CONFIG.SYS file:
DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM NOSH
If you have other parameters already configured after QEMM, then just add NOSH
to the end of them.
NOSH is an abbreviation for NoShadowRAM: it tells QEMM-386 not to try to
use the unused portion of the ShadowRAM. This parameter does not interfere
with your computer's use of ShadowRAM for its own purposes, only QEMM-386's
use of the remainder. This parameter is discussed in the QEMM-386 manual.
For a further discussion of what ShadowRAM is, read Quarterdeck Technical
Bulletin #224: ShadowRAM, Top Memory, and QEMM-386.
